1. CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN SHEFFIELD
Shopping in Sheffield is a treat no matter what time of the year you’re here but it’s extra special in December. With Christmas trees and decorations in every shop window, you’re sure to find a bargain in the many shops, department stores and more. Meadowhall is our slightly out of town shopping district that is packed with high street and high-end names like All Saints, Boss by Hugo Boss, and Dermalogica among many others. It’s a perfect place to shop for the fashionista in your life.
If you prefer vintage, homemade and more unique shopping, Devonshire Street is home to Sheffield’s independent quarter and a wonderful place to shop for something a bit different and personal for the person you love. Head to Vulgar or JoJo’s General Store for some truly one-of-a-kind clothing in fantastic and outrageous prints – items you’d never find on the high street. Within Reason has some of the most fantastic gifts you’ll find in Sheffield with many well and lesser-known brands represented. For the music lover in your life, Bear Tree Records have a truly impressive collection of handpicked, high-quality vinyl, each with a personal recommendation from the all-knowing owner Joe.
2. SHEFFIELD CHRISTMAS MARKET
From November 15th to Christmas Eve, parts of the city turn into a winter wonderland with log cabins, thousands of twinkling lights and the smell of delicious festive favourites. Sheffield Christmas Market has grown from a handful of stalls to over 50 traders selling food & drink and fantastic gifts. There’s something for all tastes and budgets here with mostly local traders selling gifts, toys, crafts, skincare, candles, homeware, decorations, textiles and so much more. You’ll find delicious food and festive drinks to keep you warm from the inside out. Santa’s Grotto is at the heart of the event alongside the Sleigh Bar and the traditional German Sausage grill. It’s a fantastic day out for all of the family.
3. ICE SKATING IN SHEFFIELD
We may not have a dedicated Christmas ice rink, but Sheffield is lucky enough to have ice skating open all year round. Ice Sheffield, part of Sheffield Trust is a leisure centre open to the public and includes a large, covered ice rink. This year for the month of December, lucky skaters are joined on the ice by the big man himself! Visit Santa, take some pictures, and skate along to your favourite Christmas tunes. Whether you’re good enough to be the new Torvill & Dean or are more like Bambi on ice, book an ice-skating session (or lesson) in Ice Sheffield for a guaranteed good time.
